Privacy Policy
Effective date: July 13, 2026
The Association of Environmental Professionals ("AEP," "we," "us," or "our") operates the CEQA Portal at ceqaportal.org. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through the CEQA Portal, how we use and disclose it, and the choices available to you.
Information We Collect
Information you provide
We may collect information that you provide when you subscribe, request or use access, manage a subscription, or contact us. This information may include:
- Your name, email address, phone number, company or organization, and account profile information;
- Membership or access information used to confirm that you may view member-only or subscriber-only content;
- Your selected subscription plan, subscription status, purchase and renewal dates, cancellation or refund information, and related transaction identifiers; and
- The contents of feedback, error reports, volunteer inquiries, support requests, and other communications you send to us.
CEQA Portal subscribers enter payment card and other payment details directly through Stripe. We do not receive or store your full payment card number or card security code.
Information collected automatically
When you use the CEQA Portal, we and our service providers may automatically collect technical and usage information, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, dates and times of visits, and interactions with the site. We also use session information, cookies, and similar technologies to keep the site working, maintain sign-in status, remember limited site activity, measure use, and help prevent fraud and abuse.
How We Use Information
We may use personal information to:
- Provide, operate, maintain, and improve the CEQA Portal;
- Create and manage subscriber access and confirm AEP member access;
- Send time-limited sign-in links and other service-related messages;
- Process subscriptions, renewals, cancellations, and refunds;
- Respond to feedback, error reports, volunteer inquiries, and support requests;
- Understand site traffic and how visitors use the CEQA Portal;
- Protect the security and integrity of the site, detect misuse, and troubleshoot problems; and
- Comply with legal, accounting, and regulatory obligations and enforce our agreements.
How We Disclose Information
We may disclose personal information to the following types of recipients for the purposes described in this policy:
- Stripe. Stripe processes subscription payments and may receive contact, transaction, and payment information. Stripe handles information under its own Privacy Policy.
- Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand site traffic and usage. Google may receive cookie identifiers and technical and usage information. Learn more about Google's privacy practices.
- Cloudflare. We route site traffic through Cloudflare for security, reliability, and performance. Cloudflare may process IP addresses, request and device information, and may use cookies or similar technologies as needed to provide its services. Learn more in Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
- Other service providers. We may use hosting, database, email delivery, information technology, professional, and support providers that process information on our behalf.
- Legal and organizational purposes. We may disclose information if required by law or if we believe disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or security; investigate misuse; respond to legal process; or support a merger, reorganization, or transfer of all or part of the CEQA Portal.
We do not use the CEQA Portal to serve targeted advertisements, and we do not knowingly sell personal information.
Cookies, Analytics, and Privacy Signals
Some cookies are necessary for site functions such as sessions and access controls. Google Analytics may use cookies to distinguish visitors and measure interactions. Cloudflare may also use cookies for security and performance features. You can limit or delete cookies through your browser settings, but blocking necessary cookies may prevent parts of the CEQA Portal from working correctly.
You can learn about and install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. The CEQA Portal does not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals because there is no generally accepted standard for responding to them. Third-party services described in this policy may collect information about your activity over time and across different websites according to their own policies.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the CEQA Portal, maintain subscription and transaction records, resolve disputes, protect the site, enforce agreements, and meet legal, tax, accounting, or reporting obligations. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information and why it was collected.
Your Choices and Privacy Rights
You may update certain subscriber profile information through your account. You may also email us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information associated with you. Depending on where you live and subject to applicable law, you may have additional privacy rights. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request, and we may retain information when permitted or required by law.
To submit a privacy request, email [email protected]. We will not discriminate against you for exercising an applicable privacy right.
Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. However, no Internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
Children's Privacy
The CEQA Portal is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so that we can take appropriate action.
Third-Party Links
The CEQA Portal may link to websites or services operated by others. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies, and this Privacy Policy does not apply to those third-party services.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the effective date above. Your continued use of the CEQA Portal after an update means that the revised policy applies to your use of the site.
